High Nickel Brass

The high-nickel brass is deceptively similar to silver, although in terms of chemical composition it has nothing to do with it. So it is called new silver or Chinese silver, but yet another common name is alpaca silver. It is a sought-after raw material for manufacturing jewellery products.

Our high-nickel brass sheets and strips are obtained from a copper alloy with a high admixture of nickel and zinc. The high-nickel brass has a different colour than traditional brass because of high nickel content. Alpaca, due to its similarity to silver and great properties (it does not darken and does not cause skin irritations), is more and more often used to make jewellery.

Other advantages of high-nickel brass make it widely used in the production of electrical components, in precision mechanics or in the production of art metal products. Alpaca is commonly used to manufacture high-quality dishes and tableware, high-precision medical equipment, or musical instruments such as saxophones and transverse flutes. Often, the products made of high-nickel brass compete with items made of, for example, brass, bronze or copper.

VARIOUS TYPES

Alpaca in the European Standards

Our portfolio includes various types of alpaca manufactured according to the Polish and European standards, e.g. MZN12 alloys (CuNi12Zn24), MZN15 alloys (CuNi18Zn20) and MZN 18 alloys (CuNi18Zn27). High-nickel brass is corrosion-resistant, shows high elasticity and displays high resistance to abrasion.

We manufacture high-nickel brass bands with a thickness ranging from 0.1 mm to 2 mm and a width ranging from 5 mm to 360 mm. Our alpaca bands and sheets have the following dimensions: thickness ranging from 0.2 mm to 5 mm, width up to 360 mm and length up to 2,000 mm.
